Solo Travel Benefits the Self
A lifetime spent putting others first can lead to never prioritizing ourselves. Not in a selfish way, but in a personal growth, intentional self-inquiry and self-fulfillment …
As women 55 and older, we’ve reached a stage of life where we have the freedom to pursue our passions without the constraints of family or work responsibilities. Traveling solo or with like-minded women can be an incredible way to experience new cultures, uniquely challenge ourselves, and forge connections we otherwise wouldn’t. JourneyWoman reports that in 2022, 77% of all travel bookings came from female solo travelers over 55. Road Scholar says that 85% of their solo travelers are women, and over half are 65 or older. While 2017 saw that women made up 73% of solo travelers, this number jumped to 75% in 2019 and keeps increasing, says Black Tomato. We live longer, and we travel more.
